about two years ago i read a startling cnn report stating that the united states was ranked 4 among all of the countries in the world for obesity.

clearly, something is not working. Cnn's report on the obesity epidemic has led me to believe that we need to look at things in a different way. It will take a fresh vantage point to truly conquer the weight loss battle, while at the same time promoting optimal health. in a quest for answers i began digging deeper into traditional chinese medicine, which has been practiced for thousands of years. in ancient china food was thought to be both a cause and a treatment for disease. when an individual was sick, practitioners would first change the patient's diet to improve their health.

there is a marked divergence in the philosophies of chinese and western nutrition. While neither is right or wrong, the approaches are very different.

western nutrition relies on terms such as carbohydrates, fats, protein, vitamins, minerals, and calories.
